The track rate of second marriages is not a gambler’s pick, but there are couples who are succeeding against the odds. I had the good fortune of listening to their stories.

     This was the typical response I would receive after relaying the failure rate of 60-70% for second marriages. Yes, these are estimated statistics, but the number of divorces on court dockets supports these numbers every year.  Real people experiencing a second emotional train wreck.  And, if these twice "disenchanted' folks were real risk takers, and choose a third “go round" the odds only got higher for this third union to also fail. Those are some scary odds! I don’t think a professional gambler would take on such odds. With these numbers, I was close to “awed” when meeting couples who had managed to sustain their second marriages. In my opinion these brave souls who had tied the knot a second time, and were maintaining a successful second marriage, were deserving of recognition. I wanted to hear their stories and to share what I learned.
